Pooja has over 16 years’ experience in the health sector, working across the disciplines of Public Health, Mental Health and Emergency Care. She has worked as the Associate Nurse Unit Manager for number of years in Public Mental Health services. Pooja also enjoyed working in Emergency Department (ED) as Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Candidate, where her specially designed role offered one point contact for holistic assessment and care planning for clients presenting to ED with various mental health concerns. This way she could navigate the system in a more efficient manner and liaise with various support networks required for the clients without the distress of clients repeating their stories to multiple members of emergency team. Pooja Saini has extensive experience in teaching nursing student and hospital staff in various de-escalation training and engaging in therapeutic support and offering client centred care approach. She strongly believes in and always advocated for active listening and trauma informed care.
Her passion for human rights, fighting social stigma around mental health and disability and gender equality are driving force behind the development of our NDIS care model.
Pooja holds extensive experience in strength-based approach for working with individuals with composite needs, offering detailed assessments, intervention and is recognised for her holistic thinking in managing risk under the least restrictive circumstances. Her vast holistic experience also comes from her naturopath background along with Nurse Practitioner role. Pooja takes it on as a mission to improve the quality of lives of people living with mental health concerns and disability.
